Countries of discovery: Finland, Greenland, Canada, Russia, Scandinavia, Mexico and America. It was first discovered in 1770 on the Labrador Peninsula in Canada.
The geology: Labradorite is a sodium calcium aluminium silicate, a plagioclase feldspar. It has a hardness of 6 – 6.5 on the Mohs Scale and a triclinic structure. Its amazing lustre, known as Labradorescence, can be many different colours, blue, gold, red, orange and violet.
Due to the natural formation of the crystals, each one may vary slightly in colour size and markings from the photgraph, but each one is beautiful.
